Pembury
Pembury is a large village just on the edge of Tunbridge Wells and has easy access onto the A21 for those needing to get to the M25 motorway network or heading down to the seaside at Hastings, as well as only being about 10 minutes’ drive from Paddock Wood and Tonbridge. It’s certainly unusual to find a village in such a convenient location that still retains a rural feel but here, we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by farmland, woodland and orchards and we’re truly spoilt for choice with country footpaths from the village in all directions.
Pembury caters for everyday needs including a doctor’s surgery, library, chemist, newsagent with Post Office counter, public houses, eateries, farm shop, Notcutts garden centre and coffee shop, hairdressers, barbers, churches, Tesco supermarket, petrol station with Morrisons and a local convenience store. The Tunbridge Wells at Pembury Hospital is also on the periphery of the village, on a bus route. For schooling, Pembury has a well-regarded primary school and a nursery within the village, with the closest comprehensive school being The Skinners Kent Academy. A wide range of Grammar schools can be found in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge where you can also find a wide range of independent and chain stores, cafes and restaurants to suit all budgets. The nearest stations are at High Brooms, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Paddock Wood and there is a commuter coach service running from the village as well and buses to the surrounding areas.
There is a strong community spirit in Pembury with plenty of activities for all age groups from clubs for the children such as Scouts and Brownies, to a very well-supported U3A for the older generation. The recreation ground has play areas for children of all ages, including a basketball court and skate park and for the adults, outside gym equipment, tennis court and a bowls club and there is also a cricket club and football club within the village. There are so many places to visit and sporting facilities in the local area, with Bedgebury Pinetum, Lamberhurst Golf Course and Bewl Water only a short drive away. What’s not to love?
